Just like technology, agriculture is constantly evolving to keep pace with consumer demand, as consumers are becoming increasingly discerning about the quality and safety of agricultural produce. Consequently, the agricultural sector has taken a further step forward and introduced ‘ZERO-RESIDUE’ products onto the market; these are products that are free from plant protection products or contain traces within the tolerance limit of 0.01 ppm (which is equivalent to 1 g of pesticide residue per 100 tonnes of agricultural produce). ZERO-RESIDUE products have been designed to add value to conventional agriculture, even where the use of pesticides is necessary. ZERO-RESIDUE products assure consumers that there are no residues present.
To achieve this result, BEA has developed the ‘ERGOFERT ACTIVATOR RESIDUI’, an organic product based on microorganisms, enzymes and mineral catalysts, which rapidly breaks down residues through both biotic and abiotic processes. This product acts on the plant’s metabolism and on the molecules of plant protection products, converting the organic component into carbon dioxide and water. The microorganisms contained in the product contribute to this breakdown as they also feed on the active ingredients of the plant protection product.
